But still to give birth to her child, she gets ready to tolerate unbearable pains. The role of mother starts from inception. Historically, the role of women was confined mostly to being a mother and wife. They used to dedicate their lives or say most of their energies to these roles.
Nowadays, mother plays multiple roles in her life. But if she is the mother of child with special need then she has to play the role of a mother with utmost care and affection. She has to take care of her special child as if she gives him birth each day. She goes through mental agony. These mental pains are given by in-law relatives for giving birth to special child or sometimes mother curses her own self by thinking that 'child with special needs took birth due to her negligence'. She is in tremendous stress throughout the day for her child.
I do believe that Government should honour her for playing tough task of raising up child with special needs. I do appeal for Governments of countries of the world to come up with ‘Get Relaxed’ policy for mothers of children with special needs. Since they have to take care of their disable ones, they fall short of some responsibilities towards others, society. For them to get relaxed from the stress, ‘Get Relaxed’ is the policy to be framed out.
As the name suggests policy should give mother of disabled ones the mantra of ‘Get Relaxed’. To take care of the child, one should be mentally fit. This policy will think of giving the caretaker the temporary relief. It will help mother in releasing family stress and in turn will increase the ability to cope with daily care giving responsibilities. Under this policy, mother should get 10 days free stay of ‘getting relaxed’ while her child will be taken care of by service provider volunteers.
Two Departments can carry out this program for child development and family welfare.
Health Department of Family welfare and Women and Child Development Department can carry out this service provider policy.
I was bit late to think of mothers of child with special needs. But I was not that late to think of them. I wish Government will not be late like me to honour mothers of children with special needs.
‘I love my mother’ will be words of many. Not a single person will like to dislike his or her mother. Mother is one whose ovum got united with sperm to give birth to a child. She raises her child from day one. She bears the pain for nine months. Her painful delivery is like many bones getting fractured.
